For 50 years now, the Abbott family has been offering the finest freshest and tastiest peaches around. It all started in 1955 when Myrtle Abbott opened a tiny peach stand on a two lane country road (that later became I-85) in Spartanburg County The first store was as modest as Myrtle’s motivation (to buy a fairly new invention at the time, a television set). Well, the new TV was purchased and as they say, the rest is history.
Abbott Farms fruit markets are now landmarks along I-85 and I-26 in both Spartanburg and Cherokee counties. Five modern markets now offer tree ripened peaches from mid-May to mid-September, along with watermelons, cantaloupes, peanuts (boiled & roasted) and a huge selection of jams, jellies, pickles, salsas, hot sauces and honey.
Of course, a main attraction is the wildly popular fruit ciders available in peach, muscadine, scuppernong, blackberry, strawberry and more. All are made fresh each season with South Carolina grown products, if you are going to be in South Carolina, stop by, there are always free samples offered at each of the stores.
