Great Titanium Professional

I'm a big fan of the titanium scheme for filters. Doing great things, B+W. Love your filters the best. Got a superb deal on this one.

Try to go the full metal hipster look when possible. All metals & titanium when I can!

It seems people rarely splurge on these. Any other B+W Titanium fans, especially due to the silvery look?

Taken by X-T5 and Canon APS-C Macro lens.

Loud buzzing sound, constant deep hum. XT5 and 56 WR

I was shooting over the weekend with X-T5 and 56 1.2 WR lens. At one point during the shoot, the body/lens (I presume the body, but not 100%) was producing a vibration, like a phone vibrating. I thought it was my phone as it would seem there's not much in the X-T5 that could make such vibrations. I look at the camera and put it to my ear and lo and behold it was very obviously the camera. It was a fine vibration--think tuning fork. With associated hum. Definitely audible outdoors. It was constant-on and persistent. I wasn't focusing, pre-focus not turned on, just camera on and taking photos. The only thing that made the noise/vibration/humming stop was turning the camera off and back on. Anyone experience this? The only thing I can think of is a IBIS unit gone rogue. But the camera focused and took photos normally during the hum/vibration.

Again--think tuning fork. A quite strong high frequency vibration and hum. I wonder if either the lens or X-T5 is capable of making such a hum. Something definitely errored out/glitched software wise. it was quite loud. something went into overdrive and required a shut down to make it stop. hasn't came back since and can't be reproduced.

Sassafras Creek walking trail in IR

The Sassafras Creek walking trail stretches 17km between Sassafras and Emerald with stairs at either end but the middle section is relatively flat as it travels beside firstly Sassafras Creek then Menzies Creek. For most of the time the trail is only 50 metres or so from a road and there are still signs of 19th century gold mining along parts of it plus I have seen videos of people catching trout in the creek. Back in the day before people knew what mountain bikes were we used to ride ours along the trail but that of course has been banned now. Sunday afternoon was wet so what better time to try out some new waterproof overtrousers and go slooshing in mud with the IR XT-1 plus 35mm F2 and TT Artisans 25mm F2.

You can see why waterproofs were in order

Yes mud

I have two pancakes โ€” the XF27/2.8ii and the XF23/2.8. I want to rid of one. This would've been easy since I have an X100vi. BUT IT'S NOT.

Hi. I know I deserve a slap in the head. Though what I thought was an easy choice, turned out otherwise. Here's the situation:

1. Got two pancakes: XF27/2.8ii and the XF23/2.8. Got also an X100vi. No brainer right? The XF23/2.8 should go. BUT...

2. It appears that the XF23/2.8 is made to render effectively on the 40mpx XTrans5 sensor VS the XF27/2.8 BUT...

3. When I check the images, it seems that the XF27/2.8ii is my preferred natural FL. Still one could just easily crop to the 27mm FOV with images shot at 23mm, right? Just tedious and likely wouldn't become a habit.

4. What's favorable from the 23/2.8 is also the better minimum focus distance vs the 27/2.8ii.

5. The XF23/2.8 adapted to my X-E5 currently has issues (known one) where in reviewing images taken via playback is slower than other lenses. (Not too much of an issue personally but hoping that it'll get fixed soon via FW update)

6. I'm not sure but another issue is that the focus point would shift to the edges by itself with the XF23/2.8. I watched Youtubers mention the problem but I forgot if it was caused by the XF23/2.8 or by the X-E5 body (I'm sure this is also fixable via FW update)

7. The silver colored XF23/2.8 pairs gorgeously with my silver X-E5 but honestly black lenses paired with my X-E5 are beginning to slowly shift my preference to a black lens+silver/black body as it's more authentic looking than, at least, this silver XF23/2.8 on the X-E5 (This point is something minor. I'm just saying it).

8. While for many, it's obvious that the XF23/2.8ii is the one to sell and retain the XF27/2.8WR, I also have the XF30/2.8 macro which I love to use particularly for food photography for now and it's also gorgeously sharp for portraits. So the 27/2.8WR is also so near that 30/2.8 macro โ€” HAHAHAHA.

9. I'm also purchasing a WCL-X100ii for my X100vi which will be used often especially for travels which may make the 23/2.0 potentially becoming less used making the idea of retaining the 23/2.8 justifiable.

10. So, that's why it's quite complicated. Honestly I was thinking also of ridding both and get some manual lens to replace them [I don't have a zoom also so the 16-50/2.8-4.8 may become handy or that upcoming Thypoch 28/2.8 could be something great to own and use (Note: I'm quite hesitant because never have used manual lenses). Thypoch 28/2.8 Link: Eureka 28mm f/2.8 ]. Though for certain, I'll also be adding a XF50/2.0 soon in the lineup. (The 16-50/2.8-4.8 isn't sure. Just considering).

Am I overthinking? ABSOLUTELY! HAHAHA. That's why maybe this community will give their 2 cents here. DON'T PUNCH ME IN THE FACE please. And I know ONLY ME CAN ANSWER THIS RIDICULOUSLY DILEMMA. I just want to hear your thoughts. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Young Jay feeding

This young Jay was already way too big to get on the feeder but had learned that he could reach by holding on to the main pole. This is a 'Eurasian Jay', part of the corvid family, they are regulars in our garden here on the west coast of Scotland.

Shot raw with XT-4 and XF70-300, this is my first attempt at a photo processed with DXO PhotoLab (having been using an old version of Capture One Pro for the past few years). So far I'm quite impressed with PhotoLab though it does have a few odd gaps in functionality (no Flip Horizontal unless you buy ViewPoint, for example).

Small waterfall

You wouldn't believe how the rest of the creek looks mediocre. This is the only 'waterfall' which can been seen along the Mullum Mullum creek south of Park Road, Park Orchards, Melbourne, AUS. But I thought it has a certain charm about it nevertheless.

Yet more forest photos

Yes, boring but its only a couple of km from home and a great way to get a 5-7km walk in in the evening after the tourists have departed.

Eleven Years Ago...X100S

In June of 2014 I purchased an X100S, my first foray into the Fuji world. As soon as I lifted a shadow from the X100S I was sold on Fuji. Four more camera bodies and 8 lenses and here I am. Yesterday I poked around in the LR library for some X100S photos. I haven't used it lately but should dust it off and get out there again. Seems people like having their photos taken with that camera.

Why no "AF MODE ALL SETTING" on X-T5?

Hi,

I have an X-T50 and an X-T5, both on the latest firmware versions (1.31 and 4.31), released on the same date.

I really love the AF MODE ALL SETTING function on my X-T50, which lets me choose different focus modes for AF-S and AF-C. I set the smallest box for AF-S and the wide tracking mode for AF-C. This way, when the front selector is on AF-S I automatically get the small single box, and when it's on AF-C it automatically switches to Tracking, awesome!

What I donโ€™t understand is why the bigger sister, the X-T5, doesnโ€™t have this function. Every time I switch to AF-C and need tracking (which is always, for me), I have to set it manuallyโ€ฆ and then when I go back to AF-S, I have to switch back to single point again, since Wide is pretty useless.

As regards the 18 f2, mine has been sent to Fuji for repair, the focus ring stopped moving, could be because a bit of grit in it, should be getting it back tomorrow.

Hmmm, @Angus , what could've caused the freezing of the focus ring? Could it be that elements like sand had...
