New Data Show Declines in Clinician-Provided Abortion and Cross-Border Care in States Without Total Bans

The latest data from Guttmacher’s Monthly Abortion Provision Study show that an estimated 513,940 clinician-provided abortions occurred in the first six months of 2025 in states without total bans, marking a 5% decline from the same period in 2024. 

Out-of-state travel for abortion also declined in the first six months of 2025, with 74,490 individuals crossing state lines for care—an 8% decline from the same period in 2024.
