First

It's his first kiss.

And it's awkward and sweet, just like all first kisses should be.

One minute, he's standing by Firefly's stable, pouring out her feed; Lex's warm murmur in his ear, talking about... something. Lex could be telling him all about Lionel's latest visit to the Luthor mansion, could be laying out yet another carefully conceived strategy for winning Lana without being too obvious about it.

The next... the next, he feels a hand on his hip, can feel Lex's thumb pressed against his stomach, first and middle fingers curling around his side, burning into him, demanding his attention in that way he just can't refuse. Wouldn't.

So, he turns, and Lex's lips are on his. It's a light, undemanding touch, but it's obvious that it's not just a simple friend-type kiss, like one he might give Chloe. There's a lot more behind a kiss like this one and he can feel it. Lex's lips are moist and soft and they slide against his for a moment before finding purchase.

The pleasant shock of it is enough to make him take a step back and the heel of his sneaker catches on the gate to Firefly's stable and he stumbles. Mouth juddering away from Lex's and that's bad. He doesn't quite know why. It's not a conscious thought on his part; hardly more than an instinct, really.

Lex's lips touching his: good.

Lex's lips not touching his: not good.

Lex's hands are on both of his hips now to steady him and, distantly, Clark hears the sound of plastic hitting wood as the feed scoop slips from his fingers, oats spilling onto the floor amongst the bits of hay. Firefly whickers and rakes her hoof against the floor, unsettled by all of the sudden movements.

Despite his clumsiness, there's no soft huff of a laugh from Lex to be muffled against his lips at his anxious stumbling. No sound from Lex at all, apart from that of his shallow breathing - tight, intense, so focused and for a second, Clark thinks that maybe he's not the only one who's nervous. Not the only one who's realizing just what this could mean for the both of them.

In the back of his mind, he's thinking that his dad will kill him if he finds out he's wasted any animal feed, but right now... Lex is kissing him.

He grasps Lex's shoulders in turn, gently - always gently, knows his own strength, and doesn't want to cause hurt, not now - not ever, if he can help it. Parts his lips shyly; more of a question than anything else. And then Lex's tongue is there. Inside. Warm and wet and velvety, tasting of bitter Beanery brew and something stronger that he realizes must be liquor of some kind. Doesn't know for sure, because he doesn't drink. He's not old enough for that, yet.

Lex is, though. Old enough. To drink. And... kiss him.

And press him back against the gate to Firefly's stall. Lex is gentle, too, as if he could break Clark - and if Lex only knew just how impossible that would be.

He soon feels Lex's hand, sliding up along his side, over smooth, well-worn cotton, and thinks that maybe, just maybe, he could break for Lex.

And that he just might like it.
