For the Record

A Franklin woman is facing numerous charges, including aggravated assault, in connection with incidents that started in Franklin and ended in Oil City in the overnight hours early Thursday morning.

The Cranberry Area School District placed its buildings under “lockout” at about 9:30 a.m. Monday, when Franklin State Police notified the district that a convict who had been transported to UPMC Northwest and then escaped might be in the area, Superintendent Bill Vonada told TheDerrick.com.

The Titusville area lost a community staple early Friday morning as flames engulfed Lin Van Lanes in Hydetown, a bowling alley that played host to countless birthday parties and community events for over 65 years. No one was injured in the fire, but responders said the alley was a total loss.

A major fire broke out at Lin Van Lanes in Hydetown in the early hours of Friday morning, and firefighters were still on scene over eight hours later.
