  • When time shows the command that's being timed, it shows the raw command before doing any substitutions. Commented Sep 8 at 15:14
  • I assume that part of the output is coming from %J in TIMEFMT. I don't think there's a way to specify that it should be the expanded command line. Commented Sep 8 at 15:17
