    Thanks for the insights! Your answer gave me quite some ideas to continue exploring this. I like your way of doing the OS app&config sync on demand, so I can keep it under control (up to a point, of course, but it's surely safer than doing it automatically at every boot). I love Debian and I'd rather stay on Debian - I know I would probably greatly benefit from immutable distros, but I'd rather not change my main distro (several years of knowledge eheh) for this.
