| Mar 1 at 20:33 | comment | added | john75 | Yes, there is an (empty) /etc/igfx_user_feature.txt file on my system; but even after deleting it, the behaviour remains the same! :-( The file did not belong to any package, I don't know who created it! | |

igfx_user_feature.txt found on the Intel media-driver GitHub project has an entry for creating a linux_perf_out.bin file, along with a Perf Profiler Enable entry. Is there a igfx_user_feature.txt file on your system?

There are also some other messages issued in both cases: libva info: VA-API version 1.20.0 libva info: Trying to open /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/iHD_drv_video.so libva info: Found init function __vaDriverInit_1_20 libva info: va_openDriver() returns 0 libva info: VA-API version 1.20.0 libva info: Trying to open /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/iHD_drv_video.so libva info: Found init function __vaDriverInit_1_20 libva info: va_openDriver() returns 0 ... | |

| Mar 1 at 9:02 | comment | added | Kusalananda♦ | I removed the linux tag that you recently added. If the question is relevant to all types of Linux, then add the tag and remove the ubuntu tag, but don't use both. If the question is only relevant to ubuntu, then don't use the linux tag. | |

Is perf or a similar performance profiling tool active? can you check that with systemctl list-units | grep perf?
