  • Not at all, a RAIDZ2 vdev of six 1TB disks will have 4TB usable space. Swap three of those disks out for 2TB, (wait for each one to resilver, of course), and you'll have 4TB usable space. Swap the remaining three, and you'll still have 4TB usable space, but, now all of the disks are larger, you can expand the vdev. Commented Jun 15, 2020 at 13:16
