    In desktop environments, by default file is moved to trash not deleted from filesystem. Commented Sep 24, 2022 at 15:59
  • @PeterM Therefore, the answer does not answer the question, since the question is about anything that was removed with rm on the command line - which then does not get moved trash. Commented Sep 28, 2022 at 20:54
