        If it isn't in Solaris 10, it would be useful to note that.vonbrand– vonbrand2013-02-28 18:24:30 +00:00Commented Feb 28, 2013 at 18:24

Acknowledge that dev tools has been deliberately left out. I'm planning to make a separate posting on that and then linking. Personally I would only install dev tools on machines used for builds whereas the rest on the list I would install on all machines.peterh– peterh2013-02-28 21:51:56 +00:00Commented Feb 28, 2013 at 21:51

@vonbrand. It must have been decades ago that you fiddled with Solaris if you had to install bash. :-)peterh– peterh2013-02-28 22:02:45 +00:00Commented Feb 28, 2013 at 22:02

@nola6000, I left Solaris for good around 2000. Too many bugs, no more updates for our machines, Linux was just much faster.vonbrand– vonbrand2013-02-28 23:05:12 +00:00Commented Feb 28, 2013 at 23:05

            How to Tag

A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. shell-script), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
