Hound @michaelmorgan If you installed it with nvidia-cuda-toolkit, I believe you can remove it with: sudo apt-get purge nvidia-* then sudo apt-get autoremove Please try to ensure to install the new driver before you reboot. Otherwise, you might not be able to boot back in. However, I can probably help if you have no other choice.

I left out the details of the issues I ran into while getting this to work. But these steps should be problem-free.
