The best way to do this is to create a Ubuntu Live USB.

Edit: You will need to download a Ubuntu ISO and then you can get the YUMI software from here: https://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/

The link for the YUMI software is about halfway down the page and there are also instructions for creatinguse the live USB. Afterwards, set your Acer Chromebook to boot form USB, selectregular Ubuntu, and begin. It won't make any changes to your system and USB that you can simply shut down the computerhave already made and remove the USB when you're done.select "Try Ubuntu without installing"
