Are you looking for an alternative to downloading the gcc source files and compiling yourself, or are you ok with building the package from source?sbtkd85– sbtkd852012-04-13 19:03:57 +00:00Commented Apr 13, 2012 at 19:03

Lenny is Debian 5. Squeeze is Debian 6. Are you on 5 or 6?bahamat– bahamat2012-04-14 00:57:58 +00:00Commented Apr 14, 2012 at 0:57

Also, is there a particular reason you need 4.7? One of the reasons Debian doesn't rapidly add the latest versions is because they feel production level stability trumps having the latest and greatest.Shadur-don't-feed-the-AI– Shadur-don't-feed-the-AI2012-04-14 07:52:41 +00:00Commented Apr 14, 2012 at 7:52

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. shell-script), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
