    MacOS runs an (essentially monolitic) BSD shim over a microkernel. No separation into separate processes at all there, not a real microkernel design. Commented Jan 2, 2016 at 14:49

    So you admit a design that uses at least two so called kernel processes. The term microkernel is wrong anyway as it is typically used for something that should be called multi context kernel. Commented Jan 2, 2016 at 15:22
