  • Yes. But i would definetely try to zero those 512 bytes just to be sure it's all nice and clean - that way you are 100% sure what is going on there and it will be easier to nail down the issue if it still doesn't work for some mean reason. Commented Dec 31, 2015 at 17:37

  • with that order of things wouldnt the partition table not also be deleted? (as we delete teh 512 bytes or does that not matter in this case? Commented Dec 31, 2015 at 17:43
