Actually I will try that. My guess is that once the command exits, it will log out, so in the case of watch it would simply mean ctrl+c or q to exit. As long as there are other users then circumventing this should work fine

The problem is that when you log out, it'll drop you back in getty, which will autologin again as that user. I don't know how to make getty's behavior conditional.
