From what I can see your wireless card uses the iwl4965 driver. See if it is loaded with 'lsmod | grep iwl'mintyfreshpenguin– mintyfreshpenguin2014-08-23 12:33:39 +00:00Commented Aug 23, 2014 at 12:33

I'd suggest downloading a bigger piece of Debian than the netinst. You could check the first CD for example, and see if it has what you need. Burning a DVD might also be an option, but possibly overkill. PS. I see you said you pay for megabytes, but in that case, burn the CD/DVD somewhere else? Or buy it?Faheem Mitha– Faheem Mitha2014-08-23 13:17:35 +00:00Commented Aug 23, 2014 at 13:17

Note that there are tools which will help you download all dependencies recursively, so you could get the stuff you need and all dependencies in one download. I don't recall how to do this offhand, but I think it has come up on this site. You could ask in the chat.Faheem Mitha– Faheem Mitha2014-08-23 13:20:20 +00:00Commented Aug 23, 2014 at 13:20

@terdon kindly pointed me to unix.stackexchange.com/a/112358/4671 (see point 2). Maybe that will work for you? Bottom line - use apt-offline.Faheem Mitha– Faheem Mitha2014-08-23 13:25:04 +00:00Commented Aug 23, 2014 at 13:25

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. shell-script), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
