Jul 21, 2020 at 6:11 comment added TrinitronX To filter this list even further, this AskUbuntu answer has a mindeps.py minimum dependencies vertex solver script. I was able to slim down a set of 1118 packages down to 589 through relying on the package dependencies to pull in the rest.

Aug 25, 2015 at 9:22 comment added n611x007 I'm impressed! I found a missing piece however. What about packages that were initially installed but then explicitly manually removed, however, later explicitly manually reinstalled? I found this in a working system.
Feb 24, 2015 at 13:00 comment added jmiserez If you've upgraded, I think you would need to use both files, not just the manifest file. You can easily do that by just adding another comparison. The manifest file unfortunately does not contain everything that the initial_status.gz file does (I checked).
