"Decent for the price, has some flaws" Posted 2021-03-12
Pros: -Browser based software means no downloading extra programs
-Ability to either manually arrange photos to create walkthrough & floorplan layout or batch upload and the software will analyze and automate creating the layout. The second option saves active time as it processes in the background and I can turn to working on other tasks.
-Ability to manually correct paths between images
-Can use with many types of image capturing devices. No need to purchase or rent a proprietary device unique to Cupix. (For instance, we use an Insta360 to take our panaramic images.)Cons: -Hotspots do NOT stay static to the area where you pin them. For instance, I've tried putting them on the floor in front of the stairs to help users navigate to additional floors, yet that icon is visible from multiple angles where it shouldn't be and shifts and floats. As this is a large showroom, I shouldn't be seeing the hotspot from around a wall corner, suddenly floating on top of furniture.
-Unable to replace one image in a stitched together layout. Support directed that I had to delete the whole tour and redo even though just one image was incorrect.
-The auto-processing can take a long time, especially if their servers are overloaded. This is understandable but at least 30% of the time, I have had to contact support as the processing hangs on my end and does not complete and they need to go in to force it to finish.Overall: This is my first experience using 3D tour software so take that into account. For what I expected, I would rate this average to slightly below. The auto-processing to create layout & tour is a great feature..when it doesn't get stuck. The impracticality of how hotspot pins don't work like they should takes away a major point of functionality. Our use is for a virtual showroom tour and the inability to label product due to the poorly functioning hotspots is having me look for alternatives.
