Ok, if some SO nazi will editI just banged my question to somethinghead against the table for some 20 minutes looking at a totally differentweird bug in PHP, and then I don't want to ask it anymorerealized there's octal.
Thanks The <%(*&#> octal.
PS:In short, I asked "who uses octal?"padded some literals with zeros so the code would be aligned, not where or for what they are usedI know, big mistake. BecauseForgot about octals.
The question is, asdoes anyone use octals for anything other than file permissions? (I personally prefer chmod ugo+rwx but I imaginedunderstand that if they have to be programmaticaly generated, people will startit's useful to copy & paste useless information from wikipediause octals.
I know what octal, hexa, binary and bases in general) But are. I just don't know anyone who uses octal these days. they useful in any other situation?
