    You might enjoy the book, Pragmatic Thinking and Learning: Refactor Your Wetware, it gives a new way to think about the left/right brain differences. In fact, it renames them Linear-mode and Rich-mode, and is a really really great read. Commented Jan 27, 2011 at 18:39

  • +1 for bringing this up. Backend app dev is highly analytical whereas frontend work is much more creative oriented. Some people like both, but many like to stick to their respective niches. Commented Jan 27, 2011 at 18:57

  • I disagree that "music" falls under right-brain functions, especially since it's grouped with "art". Music is extremely mathematical and logical, whereas art is the complete opposite (perhaps with the exception of pixel art, where technical limitations reintroduce logic to "art").
