I have actually partially implemented the second solution already. I really have lots of various tasks (that's why I call it a task engine), and the number of places where I have to ensure to correctly handle the "All" case (by which I mean adding the WHERE clause, in various forms, not just listing items) terrifies me. That's why I don't ask about the first two cases, but the third one.
