Thanks. Haven't got enough reputation to vote this up, but it was helpful. In the past, I have tended to just come up with solutions that work--not always without much regard for whether it's the best way to do it. I guess I'm just at a point in my career that I feel I should finally understand all of these best practices. But MVC seems very broadly defined, despite some people insisting otherwise.thewatcheruatu– thewatcheruatu2013-07-06 03:52:19 +00:00Commented Jul 6, 2013 at 3:52

Don't sweat it. Use what you can make sense out of. Experiment and have a healthy skepticism of anything you can't. There's a lot of folks out there making money off of telling programmers how to "do it right." They're not necessarily dishonest, but why aren't they making their bucks writing apps?Erik Reppen– Erik Reppen2013-07-06 04:04:26 +00:00Commented Jul 6, 2013 at 4:04

@ErikReppen "It's also a heavily loaded marketing term that carries more "serious-sound" weight than practical use to most." That's the truth.johnny– johnny2014-09-02 14:46:49 +00:00Commented Sep 2, 2014 at 14:46

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. design-patterns), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
