She got into her hotel room, slipped off her shoes and was buzzed but well aware of her motions and thoughts. She hadn’t turned on the lights just yet, contemplating momentarily about something to nothing at all, figuring that she was going to sleep regardless.

It was a pretty good birthday bash, with some of her friends and loved ones to share the coming of her 29th birthday. Every time she replayed her birthday through her mind, she could always hear Hugh’s House’s voice…Well, normally I’d put on a festive hat and celebrate the fact that the earth has circled the sun one more time. I really didn’t think it was gonna make it this year, but darn it, if it wasn’t the Little Planet That Could all over again... Sighing, she walked over to the window, placing one hand against the glass, watching as the bustle of Las Vegas hung around. Even well into the hours of the city, sounds of slots and dealers, peoples clatter and laughter filled her senses. She sighed in reminiscence watching the tiny specks of people walk around out of pure drunkenness, the lights of the grandiose hotels and the thought of Hugh possibly appearing. She huffed a laugh in all seriousness. Who the hell was she kidding?

A hard cough froze her on spot. Blinking, she turned around toward the sound of it. Clearly someone was in the room, a pair of legs in a familiar tailored suit just visible sitting on a chair.

”Hi,” a raspy voice said.

"Hugh?" she said peering into the darkness, "why are you sitting in dark?"

"The lights aren’t on."

She chuckled lightly and moved over to sit on the mattress of the over sized bed. "I got that genius; I mean what are you doing here. In my hotel room? Most of all Las Vegas?"

"The receptionist is clearly a fan of House, it wasn’t all too hard…and plus…I was in town," he shrugged nonchalantly.

"In town?" she said skeptically, "you of all people aren’t just in town."

"Ok, so I wanted to see you...see you for your birthday."

"I’m sorry that I didn’t inv-"

"No need to apologize," he said softly, getting up from the lounge chair, "it's fine." He towered over her, a softening expression filling her eyes, making her smile at his given grace. "We'll make the most of it."

She nodded just as he leaned over and kissed her, his soft lips tasting of wine and distant cigars. She smiled against his lips, feeling him mirror it to perfection.

"This would go a lot better if your clothes were off ya' know," he said facetiously, toying with the strap of her dress. She cocked her head and arched an eyebrow, "I think that could be arranged."

She lay down against the mattress, Hugh hovering well above her, trailing butterfly kisses along her collarbone. He traveled down to the valley of her breasts, peppering it with small kisses. She moaned at the feel of him, trying to make quick work of the clothing.

Once unclothed, Hugh made his way above her, staring with such fascination. He leaned in to kiss her gently, filling her simultaneously. She gasped at the suddenly filled void, letting out short pants. He kept his movements slow and deliberate, watching her moan and gasp at every stroke.

"Oh, Hugh..." she said, shutting her eyes out of instinct.

"Open them," he choked. She obeyed, watching as he licked his lips and kissed her frantically. Her name escaped his lips in a diligent whisper. They could feel each other near, each one gasping raucously. They reached the crest simultaneously, engulfing one another in a slow kiss, muffling each others cries. Hugh collapsed on top of her, breathing raggedly.

"Best birthday I've ever had," she said softly.

"I’m glad I was the one."

"You are the one."

Making love over the city of Las Vegas would have been a burden if done with the wrong person, but with Hugh everything suddenly seemed so right.
