Tobias Meister (b. 1957) is a German actor and voice artist. He appeared on Sesamstrasse in the 1980s, in the "Buchstabendetektive" film inserts. Meister played assistant Ludwig Lupe, who aided Humphrey Gocart Jr. in locating letters.
As a busy voice actor, Meister dubbed Gordon in Die Abenteuer von Elmo im Grummelland (The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland). Since he became the standard voice of Yoda for most Star Wars projects in 2002, he likewise voiced Yoda Muppet in Das Grösste Muppet-Weihnachtsspektakel aller Zeiten (It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie). Similarly, as the standard German voice of Jack Black, he dubbed his prominent appearance in Die Muppets (The Muppets). He also dubbed Mac McArthur in the Creature Shop-effects film Jack Frost.
Meister's Star Wars involvement began with The Phantom Menace, dubbing Ray Park as Darth Maul, before assuming Yoda. He has dubbed such actors as Brad Pitt, Tim Robbins, Sean Penn, Kiefer Sutherland (on 24 and in films), Robert Downey, Jr., Oliver Platt, Andy Richter, and Ralph Fiennes. He dubbed Chucky in the Child's Play franchise and Howard the Duck in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Animation dub credits include Iron Man on multiple Marvel series, Baby Herman in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Moses in Prince of Egypt, and Big Time Beagle on DuckTales.
On-camera, Meister was a regular or recurring on the animal-focused series Ein Heim für Tiere (as a veterinarian) and Unser Charly (starring a chimpanzee, as animal welfare officer Paul). He appeared on Tatort and in the 1982 Mrs. Harris TV movie Ein Kleid von Dior (with Inge Meysel, directed by Peter Weck).
