So. What're you reading?
I've been mainlining books the past few days. And by "mainlining" I mean I finished one and got 3/4 of the way through another over the weekend. For me lately, that's mainlining.
I finished Looking for Alaska by John Green and aodsfpuifdaewrew MY HEART. God
A while back I read a book by Mary Pearson called The Adoration of Jenna Fox which is SO VERY GOOD but it seems to be one of those books that slide under the radar a little bit or something. If you read YA and moral/ethical dilemmas are your bag, you should definitely look it up. I LOVED it. And now there's a sequel - The Fox Inheritance. I picked it up yesterday afternoon and didn't want to put it down. I've got about 100 pages to go.
I'm also working through A Clash of Kings but I doubt I'll get it finished before the series starts up. Never fear, this is why Dog invented recording devices.
Uhm. Let's talk about writing. Shall we?
I now have about 3.3k on my paperlegends big bang - largely thanks to the weekly paperpushers chats - I write more during those sprints than I do any other day of the week - lol. BUT I'm sort of getting somewhere, and I have a rough three-part arc in my head that goes like this:
Percival/Owen; whump.
Arthur/Merlin; UST. Yelling. More UST. Possibly more yelling. Arthur's a bit of a sheltered prig in this. I'm wittering over whether to have a bit of background Merlin/Gwaine shagging and I can't decide whether that's valid or whether it's just that I love Merlin and Gwaine together that much, given that the endgame (SPOILER ALERT) is M/A.
RESOLUTION. HAPPY ENDINGS. SHAGGING. MORE SHAGGING. THE COMEUPPANCE OF MONEYLENDERS AND THUG 2 AND THUG 1. SHAGGING. DID I MENTION THE SHAGGING?
I have this TERRIBLE urge to ~rescue Kay from the brothel and have him hook up with Leon. And have Leon be all stumbly and sweet and go er and have Gwaine laughing his fine ass off in the background before trotting off to the brothel again. Idk. Because of reasons. I hate myself.
I looked at the dates for the Cockbert big bang and they don't have to be in until April 22 and I was like ... HEY I CAN DO THAT - completely ignoring the fact that I'm meant to have a rough draft and a summary for artists submitted by now. I threw myself on the mercy of the mods, er co-mods (I keep forgetting I'm a mod there) and as long as I submit some kind of summary, I'm good to go.
Here's the thing. It's an auction fic. And. It's Adam/Sherlock it's making my brain sqint a little bit but it's gen anyway, I couldn't make anything else work in my head - lol. So I need 5k by April 22. No worries.

I'll be in the blanket fort.
