Hainault Forest Tree Sculpture Walk Part 8

Day Eight: 'Ware Fire

8. 'Ware Fire

Past the troll there are two other trunk carvings. On the right a smug fish-tailed dragon looks upwards.

When these photos were taken last November he originally sported fangs, now lost to time (and possibly squirrels). Though he has gained a fetching garnish of oak leaves behind one ear (the tree not being totally dead).

Surfacing Dragon

I think of this imp on the left as Calcifer (the fire imp), he was the first of the three imps to be carved in Spring 2011, but the last on the walk.

Imp

The severed head on the ground used to be at the base of the imp's tree, but has recently been moved further along the path and secured more firmly.

Face

This is one of the points where the path gets extremely muddy. The tree on the right has been moved from its position when it fell across the path in 2011 and the far side is less muddy – though requires a couple of jumps (no problem for the dogs!)

And tomorrow, we enter cartoon-land.
