1So a few things. In your metadata, you use 5.0e-10. For geographic coordinate systems that value is actually specified in meters. I think the minimum value is 0.05. Is your table really named table? Check the sde log files to see if there are any entries. You should be able to find them on the server SDE home dir if you are using three tier, or in the %temp% or desktop/etc dir.travis– travis2013-05-09 19:20:13 +00:00Commented May 9, 2013 at 19:20

Hi- Thanks for your response! By min value, you mean the tolerance can't be any less than .05? No, my table is not actually named table :-). Why are the sde log files important? This table is actually a separately defined oracle table not registered with sde.-Sorry I am very new to all this. esp. sde administration.Crystal Carreon– Crystal Carreon2013-05-14 13:48:06 +00:00Commented May 14, 2013 at 13:48

Yes, the tolerance shouldn't be less than 0.05. (section 1.5.5 docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e11830/…) I had to ask about the table name....I have seen some strange things. :) Even though the table isn't registered with SDE, SDE is still converting the SDO_Geometry object to something ArcMap can draw. Even so often SDE will encounter a shape that is valid to Oracle, but invalid to SDE. ArcMap should indicate that a layer failed to draw. This doesn't always happen, but SDE will always put a entry into the logfiles. Usually of type Load buffer error.travis– travis2013-05-14 18:16:09 +00:00Commented May 14, 2013 at 18:16

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. arcgis-desktop), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
