READ THIS FIRST: Membership is CLOSED because of the nature of this community: money and products are being exchanged, so we must be able to trust our members and hold them accountable. The community will not be "open" in the future. If you want to join gaugetrade, you must have an active journal, and you must message firstbrain with links to feedback you've received. If you don't receive a response within a couple days, check your privacy settings to make sure non-friends can reply to your messages. You must also have a LiveJournal account. Don't send a message through Facebook unless you have a journal through which you'd like to be added to the community.
GaugeTrade is a community for buying, selling, and trading jewelry intended for stretched piercings, usually larger gauge.
Please read the guidelines below
1. MOST IMPORTANTLY, make sure to get the jewelry you purchase AUTOCLAVED or otherwise STERILIZED. It is the responsibility of the BUYER to sterilize the jewelry s/he purchases. Many piercing studios will autoclave jewelry for a small fee, so ask around. If you neglect to sterilize used jewelry before wearing it, you are putting yourself at risk. Keep in mind when purchasing that acrylics and organics cannot be sterilized. GaugeTrade and its maintainers accept NO RESPONSIBILITY for the actions of community members.
2. DON'T DELETE ANYTHING, posts or comments, and do not edit posts to remove items once they're sold (just mark them as sold); transaction details need to be kept for future reference for both sellers and buyers. Don't screen comments. NO EXCEPTIONS. If you want something to be deleted/screened, ask firstbrain.
3. Wash/clean the jewelry you sell BEFORE mailing it to your buyer. This includes o-rings, plug grooves, and the insides of tunnels. CLEAN THEM. Scrub if necessary. Since silicone jewelry is tacky, wash it with soap and water and let it air dry before packaging.
4. Please place large or multiple images behind an LJ cut. If you don't know how to do this, you can learn here. DON'T HOTLINK.
5. Don't flood the community with posts. Don't make posts asking if anyone's interested in your stuff - offer it for sale or don't post. Combine feedback and sales into a single post. Do not use GaugeTrade to communicate with your buyers/sellers about your personal transactions. KEEP TRACK OF YOUR TRANSACTIONS! This is a high traffic community. If all other means of communication have failed, you may use the community only as a last resort.
6. You may "bump" or re-post once per week, either by linking to your original post or copying/pasting the original content into a new post.
7. Please leave feedback for those you've done business with! We all appreciate it. Keep track of others' usernames so that you can leave accurate feedback. Please do not leave feedback for users who are not members of GaugeTrade.
8. Don't be a jerk, and don't rip people off. You'll get blacklisted.
9. Please utilize the tag system to search community posts more efficiently, especially before posting want ads. TAG YOUR OWN POSTS. If you leave the community or delete your journal, your personal feedback tag will be erased!
10. Do not post advertisements unless they are related to stretching and/or body jewelry.
11. Don't use pity or sob stories to get more business. Also, this is not your personal journal; keep this community business-only.
12. Auctions carry their own set of rules; see this post and this post for more information. lishd can approve you for running your own auctions.
BREAK ANY OF THESE RULES AND YOU MAY BE REMOVED AND BANNED WITHOUT WARNING
