Adana

 

Seyhan, a city in southern Turkey on the Seyhan River; the administrative center of the Adana vilayet. Population in 1965, 290,500. Adana has a railroad station and is a highway junction. It is the industrial and commercial center of an important cotton-growing area. Agricultural machines are manufactured there. Among its industries are textiles, cotton-ginning, footwear, and tobacco. Adana is the site of major mills and slaughterhouses. Cement is also manufactured there.
