28-point peace deal draft is Putin's trap, his scenario must be destroyed - Poroshenko
Vladimir Putin is using peace deal negotiations to drag out the war, and his scenario must be destroyed, European Solidarity party leader and People’s Deputy of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said.
"A peace deal of 20 or 28 points is Putin’s trap, his trick. Putin does not need our land, which is why he is completely destroying Ukrainian cities in Donbas. Putin wants to seize all of Ukraine, and after that, possibly all of Europe. We must destroy his scenario by being strong," Poroshenko said on Croatian television channel N1.
The politician noted that the West must pressure Putin with one demand – a complete ceasefire, and that Russia understands only the language of force.
"What does Ukraine need most? Weapons. If we want peace, we need air defence to stop missile attacks, and drones. Long-range missiles. So that every attack on Ukrainian civilian targets receives an immediate Ukrainian counterstrike. Air forces. Because we will fight and defend all of European skies. Sanctions. Putin must pay a high price for his aggression. He must not have the financial capacity to fund the war," he said.
