You were like a little bird, singing your birdsong, flitting from one tree to another, gathering herbs and seeds.
A little bird.
My little bird.
If I could I would have given you the safe nest and all the good things you deserved. Like warmth, rest, kindness and enough to eat.
You reminded me of my little sister, Prim. Like her you were a gentle creature.
Because I had always protected Prim, I thought I could protect you.
I failed you, quickly and completely.
Forgive me, little bird, and fly away.
This world’s too cruel for one like you.
