The Rules

Due to the adult nature of the game, you must be 18+ to join



1. We’re like Aretha, we’re just asking for a little respect. Don’t act like fucktards. You’ll create migraines, and the mods don’t have enough LSD and antidepressants to go around. Fucktard behavior might earn you a cane spanking. What constitutes fucktard behavior? Breaking rule two.

2. Act chill and go with the flow. THIS IS NOT A BEAUTY PAGEANT AND WE ARE NOT COMPETING FOR BIGGEST DRAMA QUEEN. If you create any unnecessary drama, the mods'll ask you to amscray. [Don't test this. We've asked people to leave.]

HOWEVER, if/when problems surface remember Aretha and contact the mods. Please don’t hesitate in asking the mods questions or raising concerns, even if you think it’s ‘nothing’; it’s what they’re there for. Give them a holler. We’ll work through it and resolve the issues.

3. This is an often cracky-RPG. Crack in the sense we encourage Muns to have an odd (or ironic) sense of humor and encourage them to put their characters in... unique situations. We encourage pan-fandom interaction. Aternatopia is a community and its own world. We value characterization of characters more than canon facts. If you have an insane idea for your character, then go with, as long as they remember Hamlet's advice: “This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man." Be creative, be fun. If you want to follow the respective canon, that's great. Just don't expect everyone else to.

4. When you fill out the application, please put “Aretha Franklin” for ‘Who Do You Respect’ so we know you read the rules.

5. The mods understand real life becomes crazy; we all work, write term papers, and have insane loved ones. For the sake of activity, we ask your character pops up at least once or twice a week, if only to post a journal entry. We don't do strict, scheduled activity checks around here and it would be great to keep it that way. Role playing via instant messenger is also acceptable and encouraged.

6. No OCs and no RPS/Celebs.

7. We’re Slash Friendly. As Wilson says, “[Either deal with it], or better yet, shut up, and cry yourself to sleep like everyone else.” No worries though, there is also plenty of het to go around.

8. You can play anywhere from one to ten characters, but please, try not to play the "oooh shiny new toy!" game, and remain reasonably active with all of your pups. We completely understand that one muse is often more talkative than another, but if one of your characters is completely left in the dust, we may ask you to lighten your load.

9. Depending on our RL, you should hear back from the mods in one to three days. Once you're accepted, please follow the instructions about joining the community in the e-mail.

As Cuddy once infamously said to House: "When I hired you, I knew you were insane. I will continue to try and stop you from doing insane things, but once they're done... Trying to convince an insane person not to do insane things is, in itself, insane. So when I hired you I also set aside $50,000 a year for legal expenses. So far you've come in under budget."

That's our philosophy here at Aternatopia, too. Crack characters and insanity is AWESOME. We're all about it. But we do want and need you to follow the rules in order to make it a fun game for everyone around.
